Message from UHS Chief Executive Officer Debra Cooper-Burger
Welcome to this special, password-protected, website-based portal developed to provide tenants and their family members with a one-stop source of on-going information related to the Heritage Village tenant transition that is underway.
This is a permission-based communication channel. To gain entry simply complete your registrant profile by providing an email address and agreeing to this electronic communication. You set your own password and if you forget it or lose it, you can create a new one readily, 24/7.
We want to keep you posted of any and all developments, upcoming meetings and to offer an online booking capability for any one-on-one meetings you’d like to have with us about options, next steps, moving assistance and related topics.
I want to acknowledge again that this has been a very difficult decision after years of exploring all reasonable options, but at the end there is no choice but to sell the land, demolish the existing almost 40-year old, wooden structures and to work with York Region and Minto Communities to find the resources and to expand the capacity of both the seniors affordable housing units and expand the long-term care home of Union Villa, among other immediate benefits to long-term campus sustainability.
In addition to the initial Tenant Update Meeting session, follow-up meetings and information package, we will be issuing a Transition Bulletin every two weeks with updated information. We will be hosting Tenant Update Meetings once every three months and we will host a Town Hall format meeting once every six months with the first one planned for Thursday, July 16.
Communication – open, frequent and honest – will help everyone deal with the sadness, the anxiety and the challenge of saying goodbye to the Heritage Village units and to their enjoyment of the UHS campus. However, we have had positive responses from a number of tenants and their families as they are already checking out a number of options and co-ordinating new tenancies with current Heritage Village friends. We are scheduling two buses to take interested tenants in the coming weeks with family members to visit a number of possible rental housing alternatives.
The UHS team is here to make this as smooth a transition as possible. Be sure to book a one-on-one meeting and come in and discuss your needs and next steps with the team so we can begin to work immediately for you.
We are an email or phone call away.
